Paul Haggis To Co-Write BOND 22

Hey everyone, Ryan here…

The L.A. Times is reporting that Paul Haggis will be writing the sequel to CASINO ROYALE, tenatively named BOND 22. Haggis is best know for his work on MILLION DOLLAR BABY and CRASH, both of which won Academy Awards.

Haggis did co-write last years CASINO ROYALE, so the Bond franchise won’t be anything new to Haggis. He’s the one that brought Bond into the 21st century. Haggis will join Robert Wade and Neal Purvis with writing the script.

With those three guys working on the script againt, I must say that this is another one of those sequels that I will be looking forward to.

Butler Plays Young Connery In UNTOUCHABLES Prequel

Hey folks, Ryan here…

Gerard Butler has been cast as the role of Jim Malone, a Chicago police officer made famous by Sean Connery in THE UNTOUCHABLES. Butler will be playing the young Connery, back when the character was still a detective, in CAPONE’S RISING.

Butler will do his best to stay true to the character, but he says don’t expect to see an exact imitation of Connery:

“Being Scottish and being tall, I’m gonna come across a little bit like Sean Connery…and people will make those comparisons, but I’m going to do my own thing.”

“You know what? I think this character [has even] more [great lines] in him [than before], because this was a point where he was more a wheeler and dealer,” Butler exclaimed. “He has to deal with things coming for him, he has to deal with his own morality. In this story there’s so much going on with this guy that you really see a lot of different sides to his character.”

So far we have Brian De Palma back in the director’s chair, Brian Koppelman and David Levien writing, Nicolas Cage as a young Al Capone and now Gerard Butler as a young Sean Connery. If you ask me, this movie will be sporting all kinds of badassery from every direction. This is one sequel, well, prequel really…that I am looking forward to.

Robert Rodriguez To Direct BARBARELLA Remake

Hey everyone, Ryan here…

Variety.com reports that Robert Rodriguez, the guy behind films like SIN CITY and DESPERADO, has taken the role of director on the upcoming remake of the 1968 BARBARELLA.

Rodriguez will team up alongside Neal Purvis and Robert Wade who were the two guys that wrote CASINO ROYALE. Rodriguez had some words to say regarding the film:

“I love this iconic character and all that she represents, and I’m truly excited by the challenge of inviting a new audience into her universe.”

Rodriguez has a lot of films on his to-do list right now, so I can’t say when we should expect to see this hit theaters since he is working on SIN CITY 2, SIN CITY 3 and a straight-to-video MACHETE. Rodriguez has always been a pretty fast worker and is able to complete his projects in a short amount of time, so hopefully BARBARELLA will grace our eyes by 2009.

INDIANA JONES IV Plot Details Revealed?

Hey everyone, Ryan here…

Our friends over at CHUD.com have received some plot details, from a very reliable source, regarding the INDIANA JONES IV movie. The only problem with the source is this: he doesn’t have the latest script and there is still some “tinkering going on.” So don’t take all of this information I am about to give you very seriously.

According to CHUD’s source, Belloq, INDY IV will be shooting outside of Los Angeles, in New Haven, Connecticut, News Mexico and Hawaii. The source also tells them that the opening action scene in the film will place Indy against Russian agents in Area 51 – which is apparently a major similarity to Frank Darabont’s draft.

The source then reveals more information regarding Shia LaBeouf’s character. LaBeouf will be playing a greaser with jeans and a leather jacket and riding around on a motorcycle. He also says that Indy and LaBeouf will be together for most of the movie but not know they are related until a major action scene.

The storyline of the movie remains roughly the same to Darabont’s script and that it involves crystal skulls and takes its cues from “Chariots of the Gods.”

One last thing was said about INDY IV…we should see Indiana Jones in South American temples and involved with aliens.
