Jason Segel Wants New ‘Muppet’ Movie

Actor Jason Segel and director Nick Stoller, both from the upcoming comedy ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall,’ both want to take on a ‘Muppets’ movie together. While this is fairly recent news, no one was sure what kind of direction this film would go. Considering these two guys, the movie could go towards a more edgy feel to the Muppets, think an R-rated Muppets film. Well, that will not be the case seeing how Segel just gave us an idea of what the film is going to be about.

“Apparently their Muppet film is going to be incredibly old fashioned, with the familiar Muppet characters putting on a show to save an old theater (the theater from The Muppet Show?). The danger? An evil character wants to tear the place down to get at the oil underneath. It’s sort of current!”

Segel is an avid Muppets fan, so chances are this project might start production before ‘The Five Year Engagement,’ which is Stoller and Segel’s next planned project.

Danny Trejo Gives Update On ‘Machete’

You guys remember ‘Machete’ right? It appeared as one of the faux trailers during ‘Grindhouse’ and some news came out that director Robert Rodriguez planned on making it into an actual film with Danny Trejo set to star. Well, over the weekend at HorrorHound Weekend, Trejo talked to the guys over at Bloody Disgusting and gave them a little update on the film.

Trejo said that Rodriguez is still working on getting the film off the ground and will hopefully be ready to direct once he finishes his current project. Trejo also confirmed that Dimension Films is going to try and turn ‘Machete’ into a trilogy.

So do you think ‘Machete’ will finally start production? Out of all of the faux trailers that appeared in ‘Grindhouse,’ which one do you want to see turned into a feature-length film the most? Discuss below!

Jason Voorhees Revealed!

Word just came out that Derek Mears (‘The Hills of Have Eyes 2,’ ‘Cursed’) is in final negotiations to play Jason Voorhees in the remake of ‘Friday the 13th.’

This guy certainly has the size and the experience in horror flicks, so I suppose he is a good choice. The remake is set for a February 13, 2009 release with Marcus Nispel set to direct.

Is Derek Mears a good choice for Voorhees? Discuss below!

New ‘Indiana Jones 4′ TV Spot

Here is a new TV spot for ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.’ While there is hardly new footage in this spot, it is still worth taking a look to get the excitement built up for this movie. This is definitely one of my must-see films of this summer so all I can do is help build it up. Take it for what it is, but I think it looks pretty excellent. Enjoy!

You can also go to IndianaJones.com to check out this spot in HD. Indy will hit theaters again on May 22, 2008.

Rumor: Hayden Christensen As Superman?

The ‘Justice League’ movie has been in trouble from the start. First there was the writer’s strike, then they were kicked out of Australia due to tax problems with the Australian government. Well now there seems to be another problem with the cast, and it isn’t because someone is dropping out.

Cinema Blend ran this scoop from a lady in British Columbia that apparently talked to Adam Brody and George Miller at a bar. Brody is already signed on to play in the film, and Miller is going to be the director. But what they told this reader at that bar is quite interesting.

“I asked Brody to sign a napkin, and asked what he/they were doing here. They’re in BC to check out locations for their new superhero movie Justice League is Mortal. Brody pointed at Miller and said “George is our director”. He said he’s playing The Flash, Common is playing Green Arrow (or Lantern, one or the other), Armie Hammer (sounded like Arm and Hammer) is Batman, someone from “mad max” is Martian Man-hunter (didn’t catch the name) and Hayden Christensen is Superman. Brody also nodded to the woman to his right and said “she (he said her name but i didnt catch it) is in it too”. Oh, and they had lots of drinks.”

There you have it folks, Hayden Christensen might be playing Superman in the ‘Justice League Mortal’ film. Christensen has been seen in the new ‘Star Wars’ films as Anakin Skywalker and recently starred in ‘Jumper.’ I hope that this is just a rumor because otherwise you might as well call this project dead.

What do you think about this rumor? Hope it’s just that…a rumor? Do you think Hayden Christensen could do a good job? Discuss below!

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Writers Heading West With ‘The Lone Ranger’

Writing duo Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio, that same guys that brought us the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ trilogy, are in final negotiations to bring the iconic Lone Ranger to the big-screen.

Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney are going to be working on the project together, just like they did for the Pirates movies. ‘The Lone Ranger’ began as a radio show in the 1930s which led to its becoming a popular TV show, many movies, comics and more.

“The hero’s origin story begins with a group of Texas Rangers chasing down a gang of outlaws led by Butch Cavendish. The gang ambushes the Rangers, seemingly killing them all. One survivor is found, however, by an American Indian named Tonto, who nurses him back to health. The Ranger, donning a mask and riding a white stallion named Silver, teams up with Tonto to bring the unscrupulous gang and others of that ilk to justice.”

The last movie with the Ranger in it was in 1981, which was a terrible failure and the lead actor never worked in Hollywood again.

Can the duo that brought us ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ successfully bring back ‘The Lone Ranger?’ Who would you like to see as the Ranger himself? Discuss below!

Nic Cage’s ‘Bangkok Dangerous’ Trailer and Poster

With the slew of bad films coming from Nic Cage these past few years, it’s getting harder and harder to trust him. Now don’t get me wrong, ‘National Treasure’ and ‘National Treasure 2′ were pretty good, but then Cage also brought us ‘The Wicker Man’ and ‘Next.’ And we all know how those two turned out.

Well Cage has teamed up with the Pang Brothers who have done ‘The Messengers’ and ‘The Eye’ but now they have switched from horror to more action/drama with this one. And while I was on YouTube looking for the trailer, I actually ran across two different ones. One of them is a much more extended trailer while the other is a shortened, condensed version.

EXTENDED TRAILER

SHORTENED TRAILER

As I said earlier, I just don’t know whether or not I trust Cage right now. Sure, action/drama is a bit hard to mess up, and the same guys directing this one directed the original which was released in Thailand in 1999 and only received a 6.5 rating on IMDB.com.

Will Nic Cage’s career make a comeback with this movie, or will this one just dig the hole deeper? Discuss below!

‘Iron Man’ At Madison Square Garden

So Marvel is running this huge ad campaign for ‘Iron Man’ by putting a 6-story tall Iron Man outside of the building.

This is definitely one of my must-see movies of the summer and I think the filmmakers are doing a great job on advertising. Can’t wait.

Does this ‘Iron Man’ ad intimidate you at all? Are you scared of a 6-story tall Iron Man glaring down at you? Are you going to see this movie when it hits theaters this summer? Discuss below!
