Legendary Actor Paul Scofield Dies At Age 86

Oscar-winning British actor Paul Scofield has died at the age of 86. Scofield had been suffering from leukaemia. He passed away in a hospital near his home in England.

Scofield won an Oscar for best actor in his 1967 portrayal of Sir Thomas Moore in ‘A Man For All Seasons.’

His role as King Lear in Shakespeare’s tragic play was voted the best Shakespearean performance ever in 2004 by actors at the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Some of Scofield’s on-screen credits come from Kenneth Branagh’s 1984 adaptation of ‘Henry V,’ Robert Redford’s ‘Quiz Show’ in 1995 and in ‘The Crucible’ in 1996.
