Oscar-winning Director Anthony Minghella Dies

The Oscar-winning director, Anthony Minghella, died today at the age of 54. The acclaimed director underwent an operation of cancer of the tonsils and neck last week and doctors seemed very optimistic that the surgery was a success. But early this morning, he suffered a fatal hemorrhage and doctors were not able to stop the bleeding.

Minghella won an Oscar for Best Director in 1997 for ‘The English Patient,’ the winner of 9 Oscars. He will also be remembered for other Oscar nominated films including ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ and ‘Cold Mountain.’
