Is ‘Transformers 2′ Underway?

My good friend Neil over at Film School Rejects just sent this my way. Apparently his buddy was driving down the road and was able to snap some photos of a tractor rolling by carrying some very interesting looking cars.

Sure looks like Barricade to me. You can even see the Decepticon logo on the side of the Mustang. FSR is reporting that the script is still in the working stages and that production is set to start in June. Looks like Michael Bay can’t wait to start blowing things up!

What do you think is with the multiple Barricades? Will there be more than one, or are they strictly for destruction purposes? Discuss below!

‘Vacancy 2′ Gets A Cast

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to report on this, but I decided to go ahead and say something anyway. The direct-to-DVD sequel of ‘Vacancy’ has gotten a cast and a plot analysis out, and it’s sounds like it will play out similarly to the original.

Agnes Brucker, Lola Davidson, Angel Oquendo and Jeryl Prescott will all star with Eric Bross set to direct. The story will follow Jessica, her fiancé Caleb and Caleb’s friend Tanner as they check into the Meadow View Inn where they have no idea that the motel is run by a homicidal maniac and two others that make money by selling snuff films on the black market.

I have some close ties to the original ‘Vacancy,’ considering my roommate’s father is the one who wrote the script, so I have to say I have mixed feelings seeing a DTV sequel coming out. I still haven’t seen the first in entirety, which I feel bad about, but I do plan on it. Hopefully this can only mean good things for Mark L. Smith, the writer of the original, and his progress as a screenwriter.

I personally know Smith’s next script is going to be something to talk about because I have heard about it from my roommate. I won’t go into much detail, but it’s a revenge story that takes place in the 1800s and follows a group of fur traders out in the West.

I will try to follow news on ‘Vacancy 2′ as it comes out.

James Cromwell Cast As George Bush Sr.

Just earlier today we said Elizabeth Banks has been cast as Laura Bush along with Josh Brolin as George W. himself in Oliver Stone’s biopic ‘W.’

Well now more news has come out from the casting department on who is going to play the parents of Bush. James Cromwell and Ellen Burstyn have been cast as George Herbert Walker Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush respectively.

So far the cast is shaping up to be filled with great actors, and Stone has definitely proven himself as a filmmaker. I just don’t know how exactly this movie is going to end up playing out.

George W. Bush’s life in office…are you going to spend roughly $10 on that ticket or not? Discuss below!

‘Afterburn’ Comic Being Adapted

Red 5 Comics newest book, ‘Afterburn,’ is being adapted by Tobey Maguire and Neal Moritz through their own production companies.

The comic book is a sci-fi adventure set in the future of a post-apocalyptic Earth, whose Eastern half was destroyed by a massive solar flare. The story follows a group of treasure hunters who, for the right price, extract objects such as the Mona Lisa and the Rosetta Stone.

The first issue of the comic hit stands back in January and seems to have taken off, seeing as it is already being adapted into a movie. No writer for the script has signed on.
