'American Teen' Trailer Hits The Net

This film is being called, as well as marketed (see poster to the right), as today’s ‘Breakfast Club.’ Now, this film might be an indie, and it might star high school kids. But that doesn’t mean it’s the best thing since sliced bread. All I see now are “cute” little indie films that follow around high school kids that don’t even act or sound like high school kids. Take ‘Juno’ for example. People went nuts for that movie while I thought it was sub-par. No one I knew sounded like those characters in high school. It was too fake for me.
Here is the trailer for ‘American Teen’ that has finally been released by Paramount Vantage. See what you think and let me know because I don’t see anything great coming from this one.
Okay, so I just saw that this film is actually a documentary on high school kids during their senior year. No wonder it didn’t look that great to me! These kids in the trailer don’t sound natural, that’s all I have to say. Sure they might be real high school kids but they are putting on an act in front of the cameras. I will try not to pass much judgement until I see it, but I can’t help but think this film is not 100% real and unscripted.
