I know how to spell Forest Whitaker’s name [ignore this if you’ve already edited the post to fix that], and I’ve been wanting to see this movie for awhile. It never came to the theater in my area, because this town is whiter than Pat Boone riding a polar bear through the set of “2001: A Space Odyssey”.

Because I’m your brother! (Actually, I don’t even care to see this movie…)

Because I need to be entertained and educated about the harsh racial challenges that all of the hard working African American Collegiate Debate Teams have faced in this decidedly Racist Pro-White Collegiate Debate Team world that we live in.

I’d like to win because the movie sounds very inspirational to me, plus I think Forest is a really great actor. I’ve always enjoyed his work.

I deserve this DVD because I believe that the character Denzel Washington portrayed truly fought for something that should have been given to African Americans. Taking a Civil Rights course in college right now, I can truly understand how much anger and pain these people went through during that time period. Their freedom was given to them and then they had their rights stripped down so that they were second class citizens.

So when you ask me why I deserve this DVD, I can only reply:
“Because their pain is something that should have never existed in the first place.”

Because I am a teacher and love to learn about all the historical facts that were not written and introduce in the school system. As a teacher, I would use the movie to encourage students and myself to engage more in public speaking, researching history, buillding self esteem, courage, learning to be diplomatic, and to stay focus and reach your dream. I work with students who have several disabilities that have been assigned to their life not by their choice. But they can learn to accept their strengths, and do not allow other people issues with your difference to be come your problem, thus causing you to feel inferior. But to learn of their hatred towards your differences and use the hatred as a tool to remind you of your success and positive future. I will also use the movie to encourage myself to continue to promote the hidden historical facts of “Jeanes ” Teachers in the South and their role in educating Blacks in the book I wrote titled “Unconditional Love.” There are so many accomplishmens that Blacks made that we will never know unless it is brought to the Big Screen. I really enjoyed this movie. My children and I had a wonderful discussion about it and true quality time well spent.
