Scary ‘Quarantine’ Trailer Hits The Net

Some say horror films have been given a one-way-ticket to nowhere. It seems every new horror flick that comes out plays the same as its predecessors. Ever since ‘The Ring’ was remade in America, you can almost guarantee it will be imitated in some way.

Well, this new flick ‘Quarantine’ might not be original material (it’s a re-make of the Spanish film [Rec]) but at least the film was shot in a semi-original way. Sure, it’s similar to ‘The Blair Witch Project’ and ‘Cloverfield,’ but both of those films did a decent job portraying the whole first person/handheld camera look.

I think ‘Quarantine’ might just jump-start the horror genre and get other filmmakers to re-think their old ways of doing horror and try to create something that’s fresh and will stick in people’s minds as being good. The trailer below does a good job at capturing your attention and making you fee like what is going on has really happened to these people.

‘Quarantine’ follow television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) as they are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, Internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew’s videotape.

‘Quarantine’ hits theaters October 17th.
