Adapted from the legendary comic strip, THE SPIRIT is a classic action-adventure-romance told by genre-twister FRANK MILLER (creator of 300 and SIN CITY). It is the story of a former rookie cop who returns mysteriously from the dead as the SPIRIT (Gabriel Macht) to fight crime from the shadows of Central City. His arch-enemy, the OCTOPUS (Samuel L. Jackson) has a different mission: he’s going to wipe out Spirit’s beloved city as he pursues his own version of immortality. The Spirit tracks this cold-hearted killer from Central City’s rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront … all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader. Surrounding him at every turn are ELLEN DOLAN (Sarah Paulson), the whip-smart girl-next-door; SILKEN FLOSS (Scarlett Johansson), a punk secretary and frigid vixen; PLASTER OF PARIS (Paz Vega), a murderous French nightclub dancer; LORELEI (Jaime King), a phantom siren; and MORGENSTERN (Stana Katic), a sexy young cop.

Then of course, there’s SAND SAREF (Eva Mendes), the jewel thief with dangerous curves. She’s the love of his life turned bad. Will he save her or will she kill him?

The Spirit hits theaters January 19, 2009.

The official blog for the upcoming ‘Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li’ film has gone live! So far they only have one post but they say week one of filming is now complete. The guy that is writing, Aaron, had some comments to say about filming and working with the actors. Here is a little clip from the blog itself:

So far in week one, Michael Clarke Duncan has been doing what he does best— smashing sh*t up and having a flippin’ blast doing it. It’s also worth mentioning that this man does ALL HIS OWN STUNTS. And its not cuz there’s a shortage of 6 foot 6 inch, 275+ pound African-Americans in Thailand! After watching the man in action these past few days, I can say with complete confidence that this was truly the role he was born to play.

Now, I don’t know I would say this was the role he was born to play, I think that role has come and gone (John Coffey from ‘The Green Mile’ anyone?), but I am sure he has done a good job on set.

I will leave you all with this storyboard from the film that they have posted on the blog.

A new photo for the upcoming superhero comedy flick ‘Hancok’ has hit the net today. USA Today has released this image along with a little interview they did about the film.

“Part of getting real: using a harness and wires, not a green screen, to make Smith’s superhero fly. The actor was suspended 200 feet above the ground and propelled at 50 mph, and he’s more than fine with it.”

This film looks like it might turn out to be a pretty good superhero movie. I’m glad the filmmakers have created something semi-original when it comes to these kinds of movies. Plus, Will Smith usually does pretty good movies as well as with fans and critics alike.

From the Academy Award®-nominated team of director Pete Docter (“Monsters, Inc.”) and co-director Bob Peterson comes “Up,” a comedic adventure taking off (and lifting spirits) in summer 2009. Carl Fredricksen spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest. But at age 78, life seems to have passed him by, until a twist of fate (and a persistent 8-year old Wilderness Explorer named Russell) gives him a new lease on life. “Up” takes audiences on a thrilling journey where the unlikely pair encounter wild terrain, unexpected villains and jungle creatures. When seeking adventure next summer – look “Up.”

I’m not too sure about this one, folks. I know that Disney/Pixar haven’t disappointed before, but this one just doesn’t strike my fancy.

Do you think these two major studios will ever release a film that is utter crap when they are working together? Are you excited for ‘Up?’ Discuss below!
