After hearing about a remake of The Incredible Shrinking Man, I took it upon myself to do some research and see what other classics were to be remade in the next few years. I was surprised about a few (Logan’s Run, Dirty Dozen) and then there were some I wasn’t so surprised about.

Well, I Dream of Jeannie is one of the remakes I wasn’t surprised to see. Since Bewitched was remade a few years ago, I guess it was only a short time before Jeannie was remade. If you think I am making all of this up, check out the IMDB.com page yourself! Right now, there is no director set but Cormac Wibberley is writing the screenplay. He’s written things such as The Shaggy Dog and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. Going by that awesome resume, this should be one helluva movie!

Brett Ratner and Eddie Murphy are in negotiations with Universal to direct and star in (respectively) a remake of 1957’s sci-fi classic The Incredible Shrinking Man.

This remake will be an updated version of the classic film and will take a comedic approach instead of a sci-fi/horror like the original. The story follows a famous Las Vegas magician who is put under a spell that makes him shrink. He must find a way to get rid of the spell before he gets so small that he disappears.

I guess Hollywood hasn’t run out of movies to remake, yet. It’s sad to see so many classics get butchered by today’s filmmakers. What will Hollywood do when there are no more classic movies to remake? Will they have to turn to remaking films from Ed Wood? That’s my guess…

The Weinsteins have decided it’s a good idea to remake ‘Seven Samurai.’ While they think it’s a good idea, I’m sure millions of others do not agree. Why would they want to remake something that is considered one of the greatest movies ever? It’d be like remaking ‘The Godfather’ or ‘Casablanca’ or even remaking ‘Citizen Kane!’

Variety says ‘Seven Samurai’ will start shooting in the fourth quarter of 2008 for release in 2009. The cast will feature American, European and Asian stars, and a director is in advanced talks with the Weinsteins.

Will these remakes ever stop? Seriously. Hey Hollywood, I got a suggestion. Why not read a damn book and make that into a movie. Stop watching movies and saying to yourselves “HEY! We could make a movie out of that movie!” Ya, no shit. Come up with something original, or at least make a movie from some sort of source material that hasn’t been done before.
