OH YEAH! The ALIEN quadrilogy IS getting a prequel (sequel?) under the title PROMETHEUS! Ridley Scott is coming back as director for the project that is being overseen by both the Brandywine production company, and (Scott’s own) Scott Free productions. This is HUGE news for the millions of die-hard ALIEN fans the world over, and there is even an entire website dedicated to releasing information about the film.
The project entered the filming stages at Pinewood Studios last Monday, March 21st, and reports coming off the set are exciting. Apparently, the ENTIRE studio lot in Toronto, Canada has been dedicated to the film. And, there has been a report of a THREE-BLOCK-HIGH SET PIECE (Spaceship)! That’s right, a spaceship that is as tall as three city blocks are long.

What’s that you say? THE LORAX is coming out to play? Yes, and at a theater near you! Universal Studios is producing a film adaption of Dr. Seuss’ classic children’s book, and the cast is officially in the filming stage. Ken Daurio wrote the screenplay for the film and is co-directing the picture, along with Cinco Paul and Chris Renaud. Illumination Entertainment, the crew behind DESPICABLE ME, is doing the CG animation for the film, which is set to open in 2012.
I say I was just a bit aghast…when I saw a name that was voice cast… (hey gimme a break, I’m no Seuss). With a story as great and pertinent as THE LORAX, I was expecting to see a bit more star power than Universal has delivered. Zack Efron will lead as the voice of Ted, with Taylor Swift playing his love interest, Audrey. Now don’t get me wrong, Swift certainly has a beautiful voice, but it probably would have been better casting if this were to be live-action, as Efron mostly just adds face value to films. Luckily, the casting gets better from there (him). Ed Helms will be voicing Once-ler, Danny DeVito will be voicing the Lorax, Rob Riggle has been cast as O’Hare, and the fabulous Betty White will be voicing Norma.
